SALON – Society for the Arts of the Long Nineteenth Century is op zoek naar een nieuw bestuurslid (onbezoldigde functie), woonachtig in België.
Over SALON
SALON – Society for the Arts of the Long Nineteenth Century is een platform voor de studie van kunst en kunstgeschiedenis uit de periode ca. 1789–1914. SALON is gevestigd in Nederland en België en staat open voor internationale samenwerking. Het platform brengt onderzoekers, museumprofessionals, studenten en liefhebbers met elkaar in contact om de dialoog te stimuleren en het onderzoek naar de beeldende en toegepaste kunsten van dit transformatieve tijdperk te bevorderen. SALON organiseert openbare symposia, workshops, lezingen en excursies om een dynamische, inclusieve gemeenschap te cultiveren waarin nieuwe ideeën en kennis tot bloei kunnen komen.
Wie zoeken we?
We zijn specifiek op zoek naar iemand die in België woont, om ervoor te zorgen dat de Belgische vertegenwoordiging binnen het bestuur steviger verankerd raakt. Het bestuurslid begint op 1 december 2026 aan zijn of haar ambtstermijn van vier jaar. Over het algemeen komt het SALON-bestuur ongeveer vijf tot zes keer per jaar bijeen (virtueel en minstens één keer per jaar fysiek). De voertalen zijn Nederlands (tijdens vergaderingen) en Engels. Het bestuurslid geeft advies en ondersteuning aan het bestuur en het platform, helpt bij het organiseren van evenementen en activiteiten, en is bereid zijn of haar netwerk en expertise in te zetten om de SALON-gemeenschap te helpen.

SALON – Society for the Arts of the Long Nineteenth Century is seeking a new Board Member (honorary position) based in Belgium.
About SALON
SALON – Society for the Arts of the Long Nineteenth Century is a platform for the study of art and art history from c. 1789–1914. Based in the Netherlands and Belgium and open to international collaboration, SALON connects researchers, museum-professionals, students, and enthusiasts to spark dialogue and to further research on the visual and applied arts of this transformative era. SALON organizes public symposia, workshops, lectures and excursions to cultivate a dynamic, inclusive community in which new ideas and knowledge can flourish.
Who are we looking for?
We are specifically looking for someone based in Belgium to ensure that the Belgian presence is more firmly established within the board. The Board Member will begin their 4-year term on 1 December 2026. In general, the SALON Board meets approximately five to six times a year (virtually and at least once per year in the flesh). Fluency in Dutch (during meetings) and English is a requirement. The Board Member provides counsel and assistance to the Board and the platform, helps organize events and activities, and is willing to use their network and expertise to help the SALON community.
